Dixie came to TBDR from a rural FL shelter west of Tallahassee. While we have no idea what her name was before coming there as a stray, she sure knows her new name now!
Dixie is a super friendly dog that is just a few years old. She loves her humans and to play with other dogs; she doesn’t seem to mind cats. She is house broken and knows how to use the pet door. She loves sleeping on the couch and in her dog bed. Come nighttime, though, she likes the “people” bed.
Dixie walks well on a leash, but since she is sooo friendly, a fenced yard will be best to keep her safe. She rides well in the car, too, and loves any kind of dog food and treats. She’d be a great addition to most any home ... families and children, singles, seniors, etc. She is a low maintenance, calm and well-behaved girl that will fit in nicely to most lifestyles.
Dixie has been spayed, vaccinated, micro chipped and has no intestinal parasites. She does have heartworms, unfortunately, but she is nearly done with her treatment. We expect that by late March or early April, she will be negative and ready for the next phase of her life. Please ask about her now, if you are interested, though.
Her adoption fee will be $200.00, and that is a SMALL (!) portion of her medical expenses that will run probably closer to $600.00. If you are unable to adopt please consider making a donation to help out with her treatment. Without this, she’d die as a young dog and suffer a lot, so TBDR would like to help many more deserving dogs like Dixie.
