Dixie Dog is an adorable 15-pound Terrier – Pekingese (??) mix. This very affectionate girl was turned in at the Bainbridge (GA) Humane Society - filthy, matted and infested with fleas. (Guess the people who had her thought she'd take care of these things herself!) She also had numerous litters in her five years. After being bathed twice, groomed, spayed, vaccinated, given heartworm preventative and microchipped, we thought she was ready for her "do over." Unfortunately not...
Dixie Dog is darling in both appearance and disposition. She is a quiet and well-behaved dog who quickly becomes devoted (sneaked into the bed the second night and claimed a spot so close she HAD to be cuddled). Her house-training is a work-in-progress due to what was thought to be a urinary tract infection. After x-rays and more testing, it was discovered that she has bladder stones that can only be removed surgically. The procedure, which will save her life, will cost about $500-700, in addition to the $250 TBDR has already invested in her. Her prognosis will be excellent, if TBDR can afford the surgery for her.
