Dakota is a 1 1/2 year old Pit Bull, and what a handsome boy he is! No picture can do him justice. To see him now you would never believe what a rough start he had in life. Abandoned and locked in a home with no food or water, Dakota was eventually seized by the sheriff's department. At that time, Dakota's physical condition was so appalling that he ranked a 2 on the vet's 1-9 body condition score.
Dakota is now thriving. He weighs a healthy 57 pounds and, as you can see from his photos, he is in superb physical condition. What an excellent young man! He is gorgeous and very lovable. A wonderful house dog, Dakota is housebroken and very friendly with people and other dogs. He likes to stretch out beside you on the couch and rest his head in your lap.
Athletic by nature, Dakota is quiet in the house but very energetic outside and he has incredible endurance. He would be a great companion for a runner or anyone who enjoys sports and/or the outdoors. He loves to play, and he is great at fetching the ball and sitting on command. Dakota has attended obedience training classes and has made it to Intermediate-Advanced level! More recently, he has received his Canine Good Citizenship Certificate.
No home with kids under 12 years old, please. Dakota adores children! However, his strength and love of boisterous romping get the better of him. We don't want any little kids being knocked over and accidentally hurt! He is great with older kids who are tall enough and/or mature enough to issue commands to a dog.
Dakota is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Fostered by Cay, (850) 545-6533.
